I had great plans.  Really great plans, about blogging and having everything done in time to sit back at chrissy time and watch while every one ran around in a tearing mess.  It was gonna be great.  I’d have time to wrap pressies, do the christmas baking, visit, and shock horror … write cards.  But it’s the 3rd of december (no it’s bloody not, its the 16th now) and I have three bloody sheep puppets to knit.  Three.  Its taken me four days just to do nearly three inches on one of them.  So there won’t be cards or the other Currie and Ives activities either. Stoopid me decide to make a cushion cover for friends we are seeing for a POSH chrissy dinner.  This cushion cover is made of hand woven wool woven squares.  I will post the directions here, but it will have to wait until the first week after Chrissy, because I snuck some time now but after this I am pushed to blog as regulalry as I want.  I will be posting as often as I can just after boxing day.I also have to make three coin purses out of handmade felt and finish the sodding sheep in time for boxing day.  Ho Bloody Ho.  I will be the grumpy santa on christmas day with crampy hands .. no I won’t.  I actually love Christmas a lot.  Its going to be fab to see my little girl surrounded by pressies, so overwhelmed she doesn’t know where to start.  Ah yes.  It’s gonna be grand. I am vainly hoping that Santa aka my husband forgave me the crunch on the car door and there will be a gorgeous Little Gem II waiting for me under the tree, if not, I’ll smile and say thanks for the ipod.  Bet its an ipod.

I’ve had a visit …

Oh yes I have. Some folks are really lucky, they get visited by the lottery fairy, or the new dress fairy. Not me, I get a visit from the gastro fairy. Yup, that’s right. She waved her poo brown wand and whammo, there I am at 2 am in the morning lying on the freezing tiles in my bathroom praying for it all to “go away”. My husband patted my back. He really is a lovely guy. When I finally lliterally crawled in bed, all I could think about? Was the skein of pistachion coloured Merino that I had just Andean plyed going to be washed as I had hoped in the morning? Yes it was because I dragged myself out of bed to wash it, and hang it to dry. I still feel less than ordinary, but I have spent the past couple of hours with my little 4″ hand loom weaving sqaures for the cushion I am making.Oh yes, this girl has got it really bad. Not even a good dose of gastroenteritis can keep me from my fibre. My husband remarked dryly this morning that he could tell that who ever had handled the food I ate at lunchtime, hadn’t washed their hands … by the sound of my worshiping the porcelain throne. Is that a skill worthy of Dr House? Nope, that’s my man. He came back from New Zealand, copletely wrecked, ie, he had a great time with his friends and ate and drank way too much. He had gone off with a note from me and all the details on where to buy a Little Gem II in Rotarua, should the winds prevail and should he not be still ticked off by the ding on the side driver door of our car. He never said a word when he came back and I didn’t ask him. Is santa going to be getting big points this year or … am I getting an Ipod?Little Gem II = $0.00

run down and pics …

I guess the easiest way to do this is just write and add pics here and there. Cool. Now this may not be “tomorrow” but its not that far away, and I have just unloaded my camera, the baby is in bed (well she’s early 3, but like I tell her all the time, she will always be my baby), and here I am in front of the computer. wheeewwwwwww.

Right, here we go.

I know I talked alot about getting stuff together, well, just to show I wasn’t pulling any legs, here are three of the note books I made. Well, threw together. Well, not thrown but sweated, cried and almost bled over. There were 10 of these and each one was unique, all covered in handmade 100% merino felt (made by me), with really truly vintage rick rack braid. And these little buggers took hours and hours and hours. They took so long in fact that I didn’t get down some other stuff because of it. They look great but it was all I could do not to throw myself on the ground and beg folks at the show to buy them. Begging isn’t pretty and it makes the knees on my jeans wear out quicker than they should. Not that I would know.

Right, the morning strated late because I got to bed late, despite the fact that I was organised, there was just a bunch of really niggly bits to do that kept me niggling until about 2am. What sucked even harder was that night was the start of daylight saving, so I lost an hour before I started anything. So that bit,. When the alarm went off, I hit the dreaded snooze button because my head told me to. It wasn’t my fault. So I was late starting out. My parents in law came to get my girl to look after for the day and by the time we got to the show place, it was 8.30. I was too panicked until I went to set up everything and it took about an hour! An hour! Bloody Hell, I was about ready to scream for the hour that got taken away from me in the first place. If I hadn’t been an hour down already we would have been there on time. My story, I’m sticking to it. But good news, as soon as we were fully set up, had a great sale to kick of the day. Woo hoo.

here are a couple of pics of the table, you wont be able to see but there is all sorts of stuff. Felting kits, fibre, atc kits (with both card and felt bases), vintage button packs, little beads, wooden pegs etc, plus our own range of collage sheets and scrapbook papers (I designed them myself) as well as …

img_2750.jpgimg_2751.jpg

Our very own spindles! Like ‘em? We do! The pic may be small if you want to see bigger, let me know and I’ll resize the imge. I guess I am being conscious of space but it’s not good if you can’t see them at all. I’ll add some more dirt and grit on the show in the next day or so.

Little Gem II = 0.00

What the !!??!! What in blue blazes is a “yarnie”? yes, yes, I know it’s some one who loves yarn yadda yadda, but holy dooley! I get visions of crazed women, wearing handknits and clutching skeins as they chant down the street swing their wheel orifice (am I the only one who thinks that the use of this work is a: funny and b: a little gross?) hook. I can’t be the only one who thinks that … can I? Aye curumba.

Now, here we are on the other side of the 28th of October and that means that the show Megan and I did, is over. And we have the pics to prove it. So hang on to your hats, a complete rundown will in fact take place tomorrow. And this time, when i say tomorrow I mean..tomorrow or the day after but I have my brain back and the blogging will flow…

Majacraft Little Gem II = 0.00 (how depressing)

Because I can …

My fingers are so sticky with spray glue at the moment, I feel like a warner brothers cartoon. No pic of fibre arty stuff, it’s coming, I should be finished the ten hand made note books covered in hand made felt etc etc tomorrow(I hope, I’ll cry a river if I have to do another night on them). So once they are done, I will post pics so it will be there for the world can see and then the next couple of nights will be spent making more felt for some other stuff. It all seems to be coming together. The spindles look fantastic. Yes, we have made a bunch of spindles as well. We are putting together mini felting kits, ATC kits and all sorts of stuff. So please bare with me, it won’t be long and I can go back to regular postings for the tiny few that drop by here every now and then.

The new man ….

It’s true, I have a new man. Yup, and I get to share him with thousands of women the world over. Alessandro Safina’s albums are feeding my creative fires at the moment, and this song in particular. I have wanted to blog for a while now, and it’s hard to get the time. Megan and I are flat to the boards getting everything ready for the show on the 28th of October. So enjoy Alessandro, I put this vid on my blog cause I was getting sick of walking folks through Youtube to find it, made more sense to have it here.

And that was two weeks ago. That’ll learn me. In my own defence I would like to say that my lack of blogging has been due to a flurry of fibre based activity. Megan and I have our first fair on the 28th of October, so I have to say that my writing will be patchy until we get that out of the way. But I will post pics of our stuff for you to see and comment on … hopefully … please comment! I do have pics of some skeins to put up here as well, but it will be in the next day or two. No funnies to night, too buggered. Day out with my hubby and baby, had a great time but now feel like it’s midnight when in fact it’s only 7.30pm. So that’s all for me but I will post again in the next day or two.

It’s official. Thats what the Doc said to me this afternoon. Fan bloody tastic. Here I go, not off to see my doctor on this visit. No, I wanted to go to a lady doctor for this sucker. It was one of those “ladies things” visits. I thought it would have been a good idea to see a woman instead of a fella. Mainly because I had visions of me in the exam room while my doctor mistook my boobs for a “weird” growth under my armpit. Too embarrassing. I figured another woman about the same age wouldn’t be fazed by migrating boobs. And bless her, she wasn’t. Mind you, lying on my back and looking down at my chest was like watching the red sea part minus moses.

So there we were, me and my wandering boobs, and the lady doctor unfazed and having a bit of a feel when she said “Your breasts are the lumpy kind, but I don’t feel anything unusual there, so nothing to worry about.”

Nothing to worry about? I, apparently, have the “lumpy kind”. Oh that’s just marvellous. So not only do my boobs vere left and right, not only would I be able to pull packets of damn pencils out from under them, they are also “lumpy”. Lovely.

Nature sucks. You know, folks always tell me that I have beautiful skin, that i don’t look my age at all. They are right, I don’t. But what I can’t tell them is that the minute I take my bra off, my breasts hurtle towards the floor at break neck speed, dragging any wrinkles out of my face. I have face like a baby’s rear end and the body of a 92 year old amazonian pygymy woman (as seen in the national geographic). Creating pictures?

Speaking of pics, more to come tomorrow. Not of my boobs! Don’t panic! It’s of the yarn, the yarn always the yarn!

Little Gem II = $0.00

I have just been talking to Megan on the phone and she thought I ought to tell the world abuot my call to AQIS, The Australian Quarenteen Service. Its going to be easier if i do it in a little script format, make it more real and me soem more dumb. before I start out, I have to say that on the day i called, I had major Mummy brain.

take it as read that there was ssome time listening to electronic voices and being on hold listening to rubbish music. Then the operator picks up the call, blah blah …..

operator: can I help you?

Jo: Yeah! Hi, I want to bring in some Bison.

operator: WHAT !?!

Jo: Oh, sorry. I want to bring in some Bison fibre.

operator: Bison Fibre?

Jo: Bison Fibre.

operator: Bison?

Jo: Yup, from the States.

operator: Bison Fibre? Fibre?

Jo: Yup.

opreator: Fibre?

jo: yes.

operator: What is Bison fibre?

jo: Sorry, Bison fur.

operator: They have fur?

Jo; (sensing things were not going well) well, yes.

Operator: oh, okay, how much you want to bring in? A container?

Jo: (visualising hubby’s face and his prone body on the floor after his stroke), No! Just a bag full.

operator: A bag full ? (thinking in terms of massive and weighing in triple or quadruple figures).

Jo; (Thinking in terms of the grovery shopping). Yup, wait, just a small one! Like at the shops.

operator: Thank god … has it been processed in a factory?

jo: Don’t know about processed but it looks like it’s been combed.

operator: combed.

jo: Oh yes, beautifully combed. lovely really.

operator: (sighs) are there any seeds in it?

jo: Oh no, no seeds, I think. No no seeds, just …

operator: I get it, combed.

and that’s where it ended, after the operator went out and lay down in the traffic for a bit.

Life is stoopid busy

Yup, its stupid busy and I haven’t had a chance to upload some new pics and write my scintillating posts that only my sister reads, bless you sweets, love you much! I am hoping to sit down on monday night and write a more worthy post but it will depend on what happens between now and then. To say that my little girl is behaving like she’s 17 at the moment, is an understantement. I gotta go, but more is coming, I promise
